Dragonfly Park | Bridgeland

Dragonfly Park, located in Parkland Village, one of four villages within the Bridgeland residential community, is the central recreation space for the village. The park includes an activity center, adventure playground, leisure and lap pools, splash pad, tennis courts, dog park, and a comprehensive network of trails circling a lake. The playground has multiple custom-made structures including a larger-than-life dragonfly play sculpture. Hand carved from Robinia wood (black locust), the dragonfly is a climbing structure with multiple points of access allowing the user to dictate how they interact with the piece. The activity center features a state-of-the-art fitness and indoor events facility with an open lawn for outdoor events, and a pool building. The low-pitched rooflines of these structures mimic those of dragonfly wings, further reinforcing the park’s motif. The leisure pool has a wide array of features to attract residents, including sunning decks, a lazy river, rope swing, and a custom-made tree house with several interactive spray features. The scope of work started with programming and master planning and concluded with detailed documents and construction administration.
