Hughes Landing Wetland Garden

Hughes Landing is a 66-acre mixed-use development nestled between Town Center and Research Forest on the edge of Lake Woodlands. The development includes Class A office buildings, a hotel, apartments, retail, and grocery. Clark Condon’s role was to create an entry experience to Hughes Landing. The challenges were working with existing delineated wetlands, enhancing them, and programming the area to attract people to visit, enjoy, and explore. The open green space transitions the mixed-use development into the natural surroundings of Lake Woodlands. The area includes boardwalk trails, sloping green spaces, low maintenance, and native plantings which can be enjoyed when strolling or resting along the boardwalk or from the overlook plaza which features creatively inspired artwork by John Runnels. The open space provides a natural habitat for wildlife and a peaceful, serene environment for visitors and those who work nearby.
