FCCA Aquatic Center

A well-established community, First Colony looks for opportunities to enhance their existing parks to meet the changing needs of their community and stay competitive with newer neighborhoods. Clark Condon has worked with First Colony Community Association on their Open Space Master Plan and subsequent updates since 1999, with a focus on identifying opportunities to improve and upgrade existing facilities. One of the sites identified in that process was the Aquatic Center Community Park, for which we provided design and implementation. This centrally located park is the largest available park in the association and serves more than 10,000 households. It is also a destination within the community, as it is home to the Community Association offices and large lap pool. The multi-generational family leisure complex has interactive features in the pool, a zero entry pool, lazy river, slides, a vortex pool and a separate spray pad area set amongst the existing trees and lake. The park also offers new volleyball courts, bocce ball courts, boardwalks and seating plazas.
