UT MD Anderson’s wanted a Class A office building to consolidate all of their administration operations for the first time. Being located on the prominent corner of Braeswood Boulevard and Bertner Avenue gave the design team a unique opportunity to create another landmark place in the Medical Center. We designed a signature water feature, outdoor public plaza, seating pockets and enhanced streetscapes. The fountain is made from blocks of Texas granite hand carved at the quarry. The landscaped areas are irrigated and zoned to provide independent watering for conservation efforts. Although the client did not pursue LEED certification, we practiced a good faith effort to achieve sustainable criteria.
