Dress for Success is a not-for-profit organization which promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. The Houston location is the only branch to build and own a permanent facility. The scope of landscape architectural services included a memorial garden and donor plaza at the building’s entry, the site’s planting design including the parking lot and a roof garden with event space. The memorial garden is a special place dedicated in honor of James Eugene Levicki, husband of Nancy Levicki, Co-founder and President of Dress for Success Houston. The garden has a delicate fountain, a vined shade trellis, bench seating, accent lighting and a charming stone wall at the perimeter. The pathway to the building’s front doors also serves as the donor plaza. The roof terrace was designed to be flexible for everyday use by staff and visitors as well as for hosting special events. The garden was designed on modular pedestals with water-conserving tray systems that can be collapsed and re-established when the building vertically expands in the future.
