Clark Condon was part of the design team hired to create the new North American Headquarters for Shell Oil in the Energy Corridor. It is a landmark project on 43 acres with four new buildings, three parking garages and lush landscapes, water features and a 1-acre roof garden. The design vision was to create outdoor environments and places that will be extensions of the buildings where people can gather in small groups or attend campus employee “town hall” meetings. Shell’s Wellness Program promotes exercise in everyday life. Our courtyard water feature and extensive roof deck are amenities that encourage pedestrian and outdoor activities. The design enhances the natural beauty of the site by including native grasses, planting and wildflowers, reforestation, replanted detention ponds, less manicured turfs, courtyards and seating nodes, trails, pedestrian connections, an entry waterfall, and a rock feature connecting the ponds, and a warm palette of natural stone paving. This project is certified LEED Gold. Additionally, we continue to work with the client to maintain their wildlife certification through Habitat Creation and the expansion of native plantings across the site.
