Transforming places that have run their course is an exciting opportunity for landscape architects. Clark Condon is the landscape architect for the revitalization of an existing mall in the Chicago area. The Sears building, which anchored the original development, was demolished to make way for a new mixed-use environment combining retail, senior living, and multifamily residences. The design weaves together the different uses with outdoor spaces, streetscapes, playgrounds, performance areas, and lush landscapes.
