Houston Farmers Market

The 75-year-old Heights-based Houston Farmer’s Market underwent a three-year, $10 million redevelopment to bring Houston its own unique farmer’s market. Clark Condon was the lead design consultant for this amazing transformation. A key design goal was to refresh and add variety, but also keep the edge and historic vibe of the market in the Heights neighborhood. It has become a destination for fresh fruits, vegetables, South American wares, spices, homeopathic cures, restaurants, and much more. The transformation created a destination retail experience for the City of Houston with additions of climate-controlled spaces, shaded open-air market areas, restrooms, common selling areas and more square footage. Local artists were engaged to create unique pieces and murals. The outdoor spaces include an open, multi-use lawn, park-like amenities, and a playground.

The Houston Farmers Market was awarded an AIA Houston Design Award in 2021.
