Clark Condon Receives Scenic Houston's Scenic Star Award
Clark Condon had the honor of accepting Scenic Houston's Scenic Star award. We'd also like to congratulate our clients, Houston Botanic Garden and Houston Parks Board for receiving this award as well!
The Scenic Star Award recognizes individuals, organizations, and projects that help make Houston a more attractive place to live, work, and visit. Clark Condon was chosen for this award because of the large number of community-focused projects that we have worked on that have made the City of Houston a more scenic city.
We love being able to contribute to creating meaningful outdoor spaces in the City of Houston!
Houston Parks Board
For 45 years, Houston Parks Board has created, improved, protected, and advocated for parks for all. Playing a key role in creating a more scenic Houston, the nonprofit is working to create a resilient system of green space that provides an equitable distribution of parkland, access and connectivity, flood mitigation, active transportation and conservation, and restoration of important ecosystems.
Clark Condon has provided design through CA services for The Houston Park's Board on multiple projects, including Greens Bayou and Halls Bayou.
Houston Botanic Garden
This 120-acre site is filled with educational opportunities, event spaces, observation decks reflection spaces. There are 2.5 miles of walking trails, ample seating for rest and reflection, a 380-foot shaded sidewalk featuring 21 distinctive alcoves, and a sleek Welcome Pavilion.
There are eight facets to the park design, each with an educational component. The park includes a global collection garden, discovery garden (complete with water and nature play areas), a culinary garden, stormwater wetland ecosystem, coastal prairie ecosystem, pine grove, community garden, and woodland glade.
Clark Condon worked alongside lead landscape architect West 8 on this exciting project as a part of the design team from the Master Plan through Construction Phase Services.
