Hilton Americas

The Hilton Americas Hotel offers an exciting element for the skyline of the Convention Center District. The colorful materials were mirrored in the landscape design, creating a strong streetscape edge for pedestrians. The pattern of plantings and pavers were developed specifically for this district to create a sense of identity and level of sophistication distinct from other areas of the city. Then, Clark Condon worked for the Houston First Corporation and with Hilton Americas to design a 12,000 SF outdoor urban plaza as an extension to the hotel along a block and a half of Crawford Street. We created an iconic streetscape with the inclusion of multi-purpose pedestrian spaces, vibrant accent paving, lighting, plantings, an alley of sycamore trees leading to Discovery Green, an urban lounge area with a water feature, and an al fresco dining area.

The dining area features movable furniture including tables, chairs, large shade umbrellas, and planters that can easily allow flexibility to accommodate small intimate gatherings as well as larger groups visiting for convention/sporting purposes. We coordinated the furnishings package for the client and improved ADA accessibility and pedestrian connection opportunities at Crawford, Polk, Lamar, and Dallas streets to other downtown areas.
